Dancers are a photographer’s dream.
Images of Dancers from ”PASSION AND LINE”
Dancers are living works of art: they have the ability and skill to move with elegant grace and respond readily to direction. Since 1987 I have worked with dancers from every type of company in New York City and beyond. There have been hundreds of photographic sessions in which I was able to create images with extraordinary dancers. Photographs from the first decade of this work resulted in this book:
I continue to work regularly with dancers—many or most of the images in projects like “Body Knots,” my underwater explorations : “ WaterDance,“ ”H2O“ and ”Pool Light,” “Light Studies,” “Liquid Light,” “Motion Studies,” “Pregnancy,” “Projection” and “Folds” are the result of my collaboration with them.
My Dance imagery will be one of the 6 sections of a major exhibition, opening at the Palm Beach Photographic Center on January 23, 2018. The other five: PORTRAITURE, UNDERWATER WORK, FASHION AND BEAUTY, ATHLETES AND THE HUMAN BODY.
The Dance photographs will be exhibited in this gallery space.
This is the map for installation:
The images chosen for the Dance section:
The gallery wall space is sufficient for 14 photographs. We needed to edit out (omit) a number we would have liked to include. These nine image are among the “rejects.”
Do you think we made any mistakes?
