Shalane Flanagan, Winner, NYC 2017 Marathon

Not long ago, I was hired to photograph the champion American runner Shalane Flanagan for a Gatorade advertising campaign. The client’s goal for the shoot was to showcase the strength and power of the female body—in this case, one perfectly suited for running – almost no body fat, well-defined and exceptionally toned musclature.

I want to take this opportunity to congratulate her on her first place finish at New York City’s Marathon held a few days ago, the first American woman to win the grueling, five-borough race since 1977.
