On Saturday morning, October 8, I lectured at the the 2016 Eddie Adams Workshop, the 29th annual workshop originated by the great photojournalist,
in Upstate New York.

A generous community of award-winning photographers, photo-editors, and noted journalists gather to unselfishly and lovingly share their experiences and knowledge for the benefit of the 100 very selected students and young photojournalists.
There are many Pulitzer Prize winners among them.
This is Nick Ut’s important history-changing photograph of Kim Phuc, who just suffered facial and body burns from a South Vietnamese airstrike, which had dropped napalm to try and dislodge the VC from the town.
And, this is Nick Ut.
Nick, one of the world’s most well-known photojournalists, attends and and teaches at the Workshop each year. He readily donned the large black wig for my portrait session.

On Saturday afternoon I set up a small photo-studio for the purpose of making portraits.
I brought a dozen or so wigs as well as red, white and blue sheets to make the portraits. My idea was to use the portraits in a collage depicting the American flag.
Everyone went along with the “styling” wearing one of the wigs and wrapping themselves in a sheet.
Sunny Yang, from China, a visiting guest, who works as a researcher at TIME in Beijing, is a volunteer.

My portrait of the great one, Carol Guzy, Washington Post news photographer who has won the Pulitzer Prize four times!
Angus Oborn, who has alopecia, an Australian expat (20 years), a former corporate and editorial photographer turned videographer/cinematographer, who helps at the Workshop. I asked him, “How about remove the wig and show (her) affection?”
